From Healing to Harmony: The Music of April Higuera
For April Higuera, music has always been rooted in something deeper than sound. She began writing poetry at just seven years old, and by thirteen, that creative spark had evolved into playing guitar and songwriting—with a powerful intention already in mind: “…to write songs that help heal and help folks feel loved and understood.”
April’s music has already found its way into everyday spaces, with a dozen or so songs appearing on television, online, radio, and in retail environments. As her catalog continues to grow, she’s setting her sights on new opportunities, including film placements.
In recent months, April has explored new ways of bringing her songs to life, including working with AI-generated instrumental tracks of her songs, over which she records her vocals live in the studio. The shift came through collaboration and offered a practical path forward. “A band member was doing it, and it’s a lot faster and cheaper than hiring a producer and/or musicians,” she explained.
Rather than defining her sound by any one method or genre, April leans fully into creative instinct. She’s no longer interested in forcing direction—instead, she allows each piece to emerge naturally. April went on to say, “I have no set direction musically, except to express my mood and meaning through my songs. I’ve long stopped trying to contrive anything.”
Fans can listen to April’s music online, where she shares both audio and video releases, and can also experience her work live through several projects. She performs with Sierra Roc, the April & Sheldon duo, and the April Song Trio, with plans to launch a full April Higuera band in 2027.
