In the Studio with The Felt Cutouts

We recently welcomed The Felt Cutouts into the studio, and their time with us was everything we look for in a creative collaboration. Hailing from Mammoth Lakes, California, this indie‐rock/blues quartet has been steadily carving out a reputation for combining soulful groove with punchy rock energy.

Their current lineup includes Cassie (guitar/vocals), Lucas (bass), Joey (guitar/vocals) and Chris on drums. The band’s music is fresh yet grounded — you’ll hear the warmth and authenticity of blues-influenced playing, with the drive and hooks of indie rock. Their local presence in the Eastern Sierra and frequent live shows reflect a live-music mindset that translates brilliantly into a studio session.

Working with The Felt Cutouts here at Abbey West, we were struck by their open artistic spirit and strong team dynamic. They arrived ready to create, still staying grounded in what makes them unique — their live energy, their songs, their connection. It was a reminder of what we always aim for in our studio: building a space where artists bring their full selves and leave with something real.

We’re excited to see how this project unfolds and proud to play a role in helping bring The Felt Cutouts’ vision into shape. Their sound reflects both authenticity and ambition, and we believe everyone who hears the finished recordings will recognize that.
